More than 350 commercial real estate developers, brokers and lenders attended the October 14 awards event. Judging the seven awards were members from NAIOP chapters outside of Greater Cincinnati. The Historic Ford Factory wins Office Deal of the Year for larger office projects The Historic Ford Factory historic renovation completed in November 2003 won Office Deal of the Year at the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) awards dinner October 14. The project team accepting the award included members from Al. Neyer, Inc., which provided all design-build services; 660 Lincoln LLC, developer; Carey Laumer Commercial Realty, representing broker; and LaSalle Bank, chief commercial lender. The Historic Ford Factory was built in 1915 by Ford Motor Co. visionary Henry Ford as an assembly plant for Model T production. The 200,000 square foot Cincinnati plant, located near downtown, stood vacant for decades, an eyesore emblazoned with graffiti. The 2002 restoration of the plant, guided by its appointment on the National Register of Historic Places, has become a local urban development success story. The building is 100% leased to corporate tenants like Fisher Design and Children's Hospital Medical Center, barely one year after completion of construction. Its architectural features have been preserved, as have the loft-like, industrial qualities, making it one of the most creative and unique office buildings in the region. Founded in 1894, Al. Neyer, Inc. is a real estate developer and design-build firm that focuses on commercial, industrial and urban development.
