East Pointe development marks milestone Lt. Governor Lee Fisher lauds office project, a 2007 recipient of state program to enable shovel ready sites Completion of 50,000-sf East Pointe building celebrated as first of three-building office development. Principal tenant is Paychex, leading HR outsourcing firm ( Paychex Branch Manager Marcia Paulick noted, “Our enhanced headquarters help us better serve all of our clients and provide a sustainable environment for our talented staff, which aligns with our mission of environmentally responsible delivery of services.” The Paychex office space is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-Silver Certification for Commercial Interiors. Paychex is a leading national provider of payroll, human resource, and benefits outsourcing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses. The Lieutenant Governor, Mayor Lawrence Mulligan, Warren County Economic Development Director Kimm Coyner, Al. Neyer Vice President Christopher Dobrozsi and Ms. Paulick spoke 12:15 p.m. ceremony outside of East Pointe, Building 200, during which Lt. Gov. Fisher noted East Pointe as a premier success story of the State Job Ready Sites program. Speaking on future development, he referenced a quote from hockey player Wayne Gretzky, on what contributes to his success. Gretzky said, “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.” “In Middletown, with this East Pointe project, you’re skating to where the puck is going to be,” Lt. Governor Fisher said. “Without the JRS program, we wouldn’t be sitting here today,” said Christopher Dobrozsi, Vice President, Al. Neyer, Inc., East Pointe developer and City of Middletown’s development partner in the Renaissance District. About 50 attended the ribbon-cutting, at which Lt. Governor Fisher toured the Paychex regional headquarters. Ann Lubbers, LEED AP, Design Associate with Al. Neyer, pointed out attributes of the building and the Paychex space that qualifies it for LEED certification, including showers in the bathrooms, bike racks, and doors made from sustainable materials. Mayor Mulligan said partnership is often key to major development projects. “This partnership shows that Middletown, Ohio, is a good place for business growth,” he said. “East Pointe represents another tipping point for Middletown’s economy in a positive way. We are becoming defined by the new economy service, technology, research and health care jobs that are pointing us into our future as a regional leader.” “East Pointe is new and green and a smart option for corporate office users,” according to David F. Neyer, president and CEO of Al. Neyer, Inc. In addition to project develoer, Al. Neyer provided design-build services on the project. Paychex occupied about half of the building in March 2009. East Pointe is registered for LEED-Silver Certification as a Core & Shell project.
