Luxottica Retail, with leading brands Lenscrafters, Sunglass Hunt, International Watch Station, WatchWorld and Eyemed wanted a new headquarters for its growing team of 1,000+ associates and executives. Chief among the client’s requirements was providing a comfortable workplace that was employee driven. Amenities such as a full-service, independently operated restaurant, LensCrafters retail store, credit union, fitness center, outdoor plaza and walking trails, were important.
The team operated under a very tight schedule: 18 months from start of design to employee move-in. This fast track schedule could only be achieved by a design-build approach. Only design-build offered the integration, collaboration and single-source responsibility that ultimately hit the budget and deadline. Luxottica is an excellent example of the time savings and efficiency of Al. Neyer’s design-build methods. Since completing the original building, Luxottica has expanded again with a 124,000 sf addition from Al. Neyer.
