From Rust-Belt to Renewal: Class A Office Park Rises

Linden Pointe on the Lateral is a shining example of the visionary thinking and committed public-private partnership needed to revitalize a long-vacant brownfield site into a center of new-economy commerce. General Motors Corp., a major Norwood employer, used much of the Linden Pointe site as a parking lot for its massive local auto assembly plant until 1987, when it closed. Al. Neyer bought the land, obtained a covenant not to sue and helped Norwood and the Port Authority win a $750,000 Clean Ohio Assistance Fund grant to remediate portions of the site. Al. Neyer also helped the City secure grant money to fund roadway improvements. The result is the finest mixed-use concept in the Greater Cincinnati market on a landscaped and well-located site.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded Linden Pointe the agency’s prestigious ENERGY STAR® Award for efforts to make the campus energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Linden Pointe earned the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance as a result of careful consideration of energy efficient building systems and healthy interior environment during design, construction and tenant build-out that have produced a building that meets the conditions necessary to qualify.
