Great architecture is a defining characteristic of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. In the late 1990s, Al. Neyer and development partner North American Properties started obtaining control of several historically important, but vacant, buildings within an eight-block area in the city's upper east side. The team knew that more value could be created by redeveloping the properties collectively, creating a new residential district just two blocks from the world headquarters of Procter & Gamble. Neyer/North American's vision has resulted in St. Xavier Park, a diverse mix of loft-style apartments, the nationally renowned Blue Wisp Jazz Club, several architecture firms, restaurants, and a 400-car "smart" parking garage, poised to be the base of a 12-story residential tower that will create a new focal point for downtown.
